On Wednesday, June 13, 2012, New Bridge Middle School was visited by Karen Salefsky, co-chair of our local Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Mrs. Salefsky presented Dr. Barnes with the JDRF Gold Award, the highest honor presented by the local organization . The award was presented to New Bridge for supporting the JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes. NBMS students and staff contributed over $1000.00 to JDRF during the 2011-12 school year. Mr. Gerichten and Nurse Duane were specifically recognized for their role in organizing the partnership with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
New Bridge works with many important organizations that endeavor to better the health and welfare of our citizens. By working with JDRF, New Bridge has become part of a powerful, unwavering search for better treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes. The donation to JDRF will be used to secure resources and support continued research for type 1 diabetes.
Based on our work with JDRF for 2010-11 and 2011-12, Dr. Barnes was informed that New Bridge will be recognized later this summer by the national organization! Great job Mr. Gerichten, Nurse Duane, and all of the NBMS bears for supporting JDRF.
