THE CTE SHOWCASE WILL BE HELD ON March 17, 2015 due to a delay of school on 2/17/15 (inclement weather).

Tenth Annual CTE Showcase


Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students: 

Parents and 8th grade students are invited to attend the Tenth Annual Career Technical Education Showcase.  February is National Career Technical Education Month.  In celebration of Career Technical Education month, Career Technical Education teachers and selected high school students from all seven high schools in Onslow County have planned an exciting day of “showing off” what they do in available Career Technical Education courses at the high school.  Opportunities will also be provided for you to see first-hand what Digital Media, Microsoft Credentialing, Pre-Engineering, Masonry, Computer Engineering are all about, as well as lots of other courses.  Listed below is the location, date and most importantly the purpose of attending. 

Where:         American Legion Building; 147 Broadhurst Road; Jacksonville, North Carolina 28541

When:          March 17, 2015

NBMS TIME:         8:45 AM to 10:00 AM


Purpose:      The Career-Technical Education Showcase will provide Onslow County Schools 8th grade students an opportunity to preview all CTE Programs available within the Onslow County School system.  Teachers and students will be on hand from Agricultural Education, Business and Information Technology, Career Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Occupations, Marketing, Technology Education, and Industrial Technology to answer questions regarding courses, CTE Career Towers, and demonstrate activities that are part of selected curricula.  Students will also be provided course descriptions, graduation requirements, and high school planning tools.  By participating in the Showcase you will be better informed about available CTE elective courses as you plan your high school course of study. 


Who Is Participating:  Over 48 high school CTE teachers representing all program areas will be participating in the Showcase.  Over 100 students will be providing curriculum information and demonstrating program area skills.


Parents/Guardians and other family members are also welcome to visit the Showcase!
