I graduated from California State University San Bernardino with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Liberal Studies and furthered my education with a Master’s of Science in Special Education with a focus in Mild/Moderate Exceptionalities from National University. I am currently working on my doctorate (EdD) in Special Education Leadership through Grand Canyon University and hold the following credentials:

Elementary Education (K-6) in California, Hawaii, and North Carolina. Special Education Mild/Moderate with Autism certification (K-12) in California and Special Education Mild/Moderate (K-12) in Hawaii. My North Carolina license for EC General Curriculum is currently in process.

I have been in education since 2001. Since then, I have taught grades 4 and 5 in the general education setting, grades 3-6 in a reading intervention program and ELL instruction, EC resource for grades 2 and 3, and most recently, a fully self-contained classroom for students with moderate/severe autism and intellectual exceptionalities. Currently, I am the 7th grade EC teacher here at NBMS and teach ELA resource as well as co-teach math and ELA with my colleagues, Mrs. Burleson and Mr. Barhydt.

This is my first year teaching in North Carolina and I am excited to be a member of the New Bridge Middle School staff.  Previously, I lived and worked in Southern California and Kailua, Hawaii. Raised in the mountains of Southern California, I have developed a great love of the outdoors and enjoy spending time hiking and camping with my family. I am married to a United States Marine and have four children at home (ages 11, 9, 8, and 3). We recently moved from Hawaii and we are enjoying getting familiar with North Carolina.
